Lifecourse Pathways – EPIC, N-ABLE & GRACE

Why a Lifecourse Approach?

Disability and functional difficulties can appear at any age. A child who receives support early may still need services as a teenager, adult or older person.

The EPIC family of pathways is designed so that no one falls through the cracks as they grow older.

EPIC: Early Childhood (0–10 Years)

EPIC focuses on:

  • Early detection of vision, hearing, mobility and developmental difficulties.
  • Timely assessment and support within health, education and community systems.
  • Family-friendly services, including playsites and inclusive learning spaces.

EPIC is the starting point in the lifecourse.

N-ABLE: Youth & Adults (10–65 Years)

N-ABLE – Engaging Needs for Access, Belonging, Living & Empowerment – addresses:

  • Young people and adults with lifelong disabilities who may have missed early support.
  • Adults who acquire disability through injury, illness, work or other life events.
  • Access to rehabilitation, mental health, vocational support and community inclusion.

N-ABLE works to improve belonging, functional independence and participation for adults.

GRACE: Older Adults

N-ABLE – Engaging Needs for Access, Belonging, Living & Empowerment – addresses:

  • Young people and adults with lifelong disabilities who may have missed early support.
  • Adults who acquire disability through injury, illness, work or other life events.
  • Access to rehabilitation, mental health, vocational support and community inclusion.

N-ABLE works to improve belonging, functional independence and participation for adults.

One Story, Many Stages

Together, EPIC, N-ABLE and GRACE:

  • Recognise that disability is part of the human experience.
  • Aim to make services available across the lifespan, not only in childhood.
  • Encourage planning and investment that look beyond short project cycles.

As EPIC grows, epicaccess.org will share updates on N-ABLE and GRACE so families and individuals can see the full picture of support.
